EONS Executive Board elections 2011: result announced

In accordance with the constitution of the European Oncology Nursing Society, nominations were sought for three Executive Board roles. The three roles were President-Elect (1 place) and Board Member (2 places). For the two positions of Board Member, nominations were especially welcomed from members with skills in communication and advocacy.

Only individual members and National Cancer Nursing Societies that had paid their fees in full were eligible to vote. Votes had to reach the EONS Secretariat by Thursday 28 July, 09.00 CET.

Following the counting of the votes, the provisional results were announced to the full membership by email and through the website. The attendees at the 2011 General Meeting, which took place on Sunday 25 September, were asked to confirm the election results and appoint its new Board Members. The voting members confirmed by a huge majority to confirm all election results. In addition they agreed that Katarina Lokar (Slovenia) should be appointed as reserve Board member for the 2011-2013 term (in case a Board member leaves mid-term). Daniel Kelly was also appointed as reserve President-Elect (again, in case the President-Elect needs to leave).

Therefore the results of the election are:

Erik van Muilekom (The Netherlands) - President-Elect
Daniel Kelly (UK) – reserve President-Elect & current Treasurer

Paul Trevatt (UK) - Board Member
Lena Sharp (Sweden) - Board Member
Katarina Lokar (Slovenia) - reserve Board Member

All roles have a two year term of office. These roles commenced on 25 September 2011 following the decision of the members attending the Stockholm General Meeting.

EONS thanks everyone who took part!
