EONS President 2015-17
As EONS President I would like to welcome you to our website. EONS has now been established for 30 years and we are celebrating our anniversary. In that time EONS has developed as a professional organisation, a voice for cancer nursing in Europe and an important partner in multi-organisational efforts to improve cancer care and patient outcomes.
As EONS grows, our reach spreads to the borders of Europe and beyond. We are working to develop cancer nursing as a specialism in all European countries and also to improve collaboration between countries to improve nursing roles in cancer care.
We are facing many challenges at this time. Lack of resources, increased numbers of patients with complex co-morbidities, polypharmarcy, an ageing population - and let us not forget ageing healthcare professionals.
I strongly believe that working together as cancer nurses, both in Europe and also with our colleagues worldwide, we really can make the changes that are needed to secure a nursing workforce prepared to meet future patient needs, improve cancer nursing as a career and profession and positively influence cancer patients’ treatments, lives and future.
An organisation as big as EONS needs your help in doing this, through the national societies, individual members, the advisory board meetings, expert working groups, EONS conferences and education activities and projects. Working together and being realistic is the only way to go if we want to change the cancer nursing environment. There is still a lot to do, and I am afraid this work will never be completed.
We are doing everything we can to connect with you as members and cancer nurse in Europe. Please connect with us and become an active member, helping us to achieve our goals.
