Consultation on Modernizing Directive 2005/36/EC on the Recognition of Professional Qualifications

One of the objectives of the EU is to facilitate the free movement of persons and services across all of the Member States of Europe. The European citizen should have the right to pursue their profession on a self-employed basis or as an employee in another Member State as the one where they have obtained their qualifications. They should also be able to pursue their activity with the same rights as the nationals of that country, without any prejudice or discrimination. All professions are covered by this ruling.

Directive 2005/36/EC is now in the process of being reviewed. The European Commission launched a consultation process in 2010 with the aim of having a recommendation for amendment in 2012.

    Modernizing the professional qualification directives

Everybody is welcomed to contribute to this EC consultation, especially professional organizations, national governments and national authorities. EONS as professional organization is willing to participate and to answer this consultation regarding the Directive 2005/36/EC.
