Excellence in education award
About the award
The Excellence in Eduction award is for nurses in any educational setting in the area of oncology nursing.
The award is given every other year in conjunction with the Spring Convention. Nominees are accepted from national member societies, individual members and associated members.
Selection criteria
The candidate must a member of EONS who:
- Identifies needs for education in colleagues, patients, families, or communities and plans innovative programs to meet those needs.
- Implements programs for education.
The call for applications is now open. Deadline for submission is 30 October 2009.
Previous winners
Mr. Mathew Thornton is the recipient of the EONS Excellence in education award 2008. Mr. Thornton is a senior lecturer in Cancer Care Nursing at the University of Glamorgan, Wales.

Mr. Thornton presented an honorary lecture during the 6th EONS Spring Convention in Geneva at the Award Ceremony on Saturday 29th March.
EONS congratulates Mr. Thornton for winning the award and we wish him continued success in all his professional and personal endeavours.
Mrs. Helena Leveälahti was the recipient of the previous Excellence in education award 2006 which she received in a ceremony at the 5th EONS Spring Convention in Innsbruck, Austria.
