'World first' scanner allows simultaneous MRI and PET imaging
Added: Thursday 23 June 2011
A new body scanner allows MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) and PET (positron emission tomography) to happen simultaneously in the same scanning session. The Siemens Biograph mMR system means that a single examination will provide information about cellular activity as well as organs, soft tissue and bone. The scanner has just been cleared for marketing by the Federal Drugs Administration.
