25 countries accept EU patent system - but Spain and Italy refuse

25 EU member states have accepted an EU-wide system for registering patents. Having a common system will save EU businesses millions of euros every year. However, Spain and Italy are refusing to join in the system because of objections over the choice of official languages: English, French and German.
