Researchers use gel to reattach blood vessels

A US surgeon has found a way to reconnect severed blood vessels without sutures - by using glue. Nature Medicine has published a study by microsurgeon Geoffrey Gurtner in which he explains the method: using an expanding gel to open up both ends of the severed blood vessel, then gluing them together with a surgical sealant.
