Vitamin D link to CLL treatment

Friday 23 December 2011

Italian research suggests that low vitamin D levels can predict the time to first treatment in early chronic lymphocytic leukaemia. Time to first treatment, or TFT, is significant in this disease because some patients never require treatment while others have more aggressive disease requiring early treatment. Researchers found that patients with vitamin D insufficiency had the shortest TFT. However, this does not prove that normalising vitamin D levels can delay disease-progression.
