EU to simplify rules on clinical trials

The European Commission is planning to simplify the rules on clinical
trials with a new Regulation to replace the Clinical Trials Directive of
2001. Definite proposals for this include an authorisation procedure
for clinical trials and simplified reporting procedures for researchers.
The legislative proposal will now be discussed in the European
Parliament and in the Council and is expected to come into effect in
2016.
