Guidance on health apps
Added: Tuesday 20 September 2016
UK’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has
brought out updated guidance on the use of medical software, including
smartphone apps. Many healthcare apps are classed as medical devices and
need to comply with the relevant legislation.
The MHRA guidance is aimed at all users of medical software, not just
healthcare professionals, and includes useful flowcharts to help you
classify a device. The legislation covered by the guidance is EU-wide,
so the guidance is useful to nurses in all EU countries.
