2014: our 30th anniversary year
EONS celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2014. We’re proud to have spent three decades driving forward the specialist discipline of oncology nursing. We marked the anniversary year with various events to mark how far we’ve come since our beginnings in 1984 at the Royal Marsden Hospital.
We held our 7th Masterclass in Oncology Nursing , run jointly with ESO.
Our one-day Symposium at the Royal Marsden Hospital – Read on below for much more about this Symposium.
A Nursing Leadership Summit in Dublin, organised jointly with the Teenage Cancer Trust, was a chance to identify future leaders in the field of nursing teenagers and young adults with cancer.
Also in May 2014, we hosted the second EONS Research Proposal Workshop in Cyprus. This gave participants the skills to turn their research ideas into proposals for funding.
Our anniversary year ended with a special article in the European Journal of Oncology Nursing (EJON). This article was jointly written by EONS President Erik van Muilekom, EONS Past-President Birgitte Grube and EONS President-Elect Daniel Kelly. It reflects on the past 30 years and looks forward to the future.
EONS anniversary symposium: 10 April 2014
To mark 30 years of EONS, we held a one-day celebration at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London - the place where it all started. As well as looking back over previous successes, we also took the time to reflect on how EONS needs to move forward. How do we continue to support specialist cancer nurses in a changing world?
