EONS is delighted to announce that European Cancer Nursing Day (ECND2019) will be hosted by Prague, Czech Republic. ECND focuses on a different theme each year, based on EONS’ strategic priorities – it is all about recognising and celebrating the positive impact that cancer nurses have on the quality of cancer care across Europe.

Our theme this year is SAFETY – for cancer nurses and for their patients.

A series of activities will take place to mark ECND2019 from 16-18 May, with the main focus being on the 18th. More details will be announced soon on this web page.

ECND2019 activities in Prague will incorporate:

  • The EONS Board Meeting
  • The joint EONS Working Group Meeting
  • A high profile ECND event reflecting the theme of ‘safety’

We will be encouraging EONS National Societies to start planning their own events for ECND2019 right away, celebrating cancer nursing in their own countries and highlighting the safety theme.

Promotion of #ECND19Go4Safety will start in March through social media channels and the website, so keep an eye out for your chance to join the conversation and get involved. An ECND Competition will open shortly to help fund your attendance at EONS12 – the two categories are: ‘Best event’ and ‘Most creative social media’. (See the Further Information section on this page for more details soon.)

Our first ECND (2017) was held in Estonia and had a tremendous impact on the educational opportunities for cancer nurses there. In 2018, in Brussels, we held meetings in the European Institutions and had our first Joint Working Group Meetings. ECND2019 will build on this fantastic record and put cancer nursing in the spotlight once again.
