Advanced practice nursing comparable to physician care

A recent analysis published in Nursing Economics finds that care by advanced practice nurses (such as nurse practitioners and nurse midwives) is comparable in quality, safety and effectiveness to care by physicians. The analysis, which covered 18 years of US studies, found that clinical nurse specialists reduced the level of unnecessary hospital readmissions as well as enhancing the quality of patient care.
