Draft Directive on patients' rights in cross border healthcare

Monday 5 July 2010

On 8 June an agreement was reached by EU ministers of health and social affairs on the new proposed European Directive on patient’s rights in cross border healthcare – drafted by the Spanish Presidency of the European Council. EHMA has prepared a short briefing on the draft Directive and on the most contentious areas of the draft discussed by the Council. The briefing is available here! The draft text will now be sent to the European Parliament for a second reading. EHMA will keep its members updated on the decisions of the European Parliament. More information on past regulations and rulings that have affected current discussions on cross border care is also available in a new EHMA Briefing on EU developments in cross border healthcare: framing the discussion.
