Review: Teenage and Young Adult Cancer

Historically, public perception was that cancer generally affected only elderly people. However, childhood cancers are not uncommon, and over the last 40 years survival has improved (at least in resource-rich countries) from little expectation of cure to 75-80% long-term survival [1].
