A wonderful opportunity for national societies to learn more about the power of social media
EONS social media / Twitter workshop in collaboration with WeNurses in Amsterdam on Thursday 19 January was a great success.
The workshop was a wonderful opportunity for national societies to learn more about the power of social media and in particular Twitter; to understand how Twitter can increase not only the profile of their society but also their members, as well as drive improvements and experience in cancer patient care.
Communication working group co-chair and EONS Executive Board member Paul Trevatt commented: “This was the first time we have run a workshop like this and I was really excited to show our national member societies the power of social media. EONS has been using Twitter for just over three years. In that time, we have built up a strong number of followers and are able to use Twitter to communicate directly with our members about aspects of cancer nursing and cancer patient care and experience. We think this is not only a fantastic tool for education but a really powerful way for reaching our members quickly and easily.”
Teresa Chinn, Co-founder of WeNurses, added: “This was a wonderful opportunity for WeNurses to work with cancer nurses across Europe, and to form meaningful partnerships between different countries. Our experience is that the cancer nursing is underrepresented on Twitter so was great to be able to help nurses and organisations develop a strong voice.”

- Portuguese Oncology Nursing Association
- Spanish Oncology Nursing Society
