Communication Working Group

This new working group (WG) currently consists of the following persons:

• Clair Watts, EONS Executive Director (chair)
• Anita Margulies, EONS Board member
• Ulrika Ostlund, EONS Board member

Membership of the group will grow in the coming months and members experienced in managing society communications (web pages, magazine development, marketing, branding, press releases, etc.) are invited to inform the Executive Director if they would like to be involved in the work of this group.

Membership of the group lasts for 2 years, renewable one time.

The objectives of the WG are to:

• Provide a platform for member societies to share activities & achieve recognition for their work
• Support and engage with member societies as they build their communication strategy
• Provide the systems & tools to enable EONS to engage comprehensively in its planned activities
• Introduce best practice processes for the engagement of members in governance matters (e.g. membership, constitutional change, elections etc.)
• Disseminate the deliverables of EONS expert groups to provide the rightful recognition of their work
• Engage with external stakeholders to create opportunities for improved collaborative working and resource sharing
• Capitalize upon the combined communication capabilities of EONS and its members to increase the voice of cancer nursing in Europe

The first work plan will be developed in early 2012. This will prioritise actions of the working group for the coming 2 years, based on the needs of EONS and its member societies. To achieve this the first action of the WG will be to develop a comprehensive member survey that will explore members needs and expectations.

The group looks forward to working together with its members societies as well as with all relevant stakeholders in developing a strong communication platform that will support cancer nurses, patients and their families in the coming years.
