Guide on adherence to oral cancer drugs

Non-adherence to oral anti-tumour therapies hid for many years behind the assumption that patients take their medication as prescribed. Only in recent years have professionals begun to reflect this in their practice, learned from experience with other serious chronic diseases, and considered the challenge of their patients facing the prospect of taking an oral drug for a long period of time.

The European Group for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT) Swiss Nurses Working Group realised early in 2010 that there is a lack of comprehensive, easily accessible literature to learn about adherence/non-adherence and possible ways to intervene and developed a guide on adherence to oral cancer drugs in German, translated into English and currently under French translation.
