Current practice in management of wound malodour - a survey
Background
Malodour is one of the most distressing wound symptoms that patients complain of. Not only is it distressing for the patient but also for the caregiver and staff. However, there is currently no protocol to help clinicians in the management of malodour and indeed some individuals may have exemplars of good practice but this is often not available to others.
A group of health care professionals from Europe recently conducted a survey with the aim of determining how people manage malodour. The survey was approved by the research ethics committee of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. and was available in English, German, Italian and Spanish.
The deadline to complete the survey was 29 February and the survey is now closed. Details of the results of the survey will be published here when available.
Please note
This is not an EONS survey. The survey is funded by the Wound Management Association of Ireland and has been developed by UK, Irish and Swiss members of the EONS Fungating Wound Toolkit project who recognised the limited evidence-base on this topic.
