Lifetime achievement award
The EONS Lifetime Achievement Award is designed to honour an outstanding personal and professional contribution made by an individual to the field of oncology nursing.
To be considered for this award, a person must have made a significant contribution to cancer nursing during their professional career. This contribution could be in clinical practice, leadership, research or education - or a combination of these.
Lifetime Achievement Award 2018
The award is given to Birgitte Grube to acknowledge her high commitment to cancer patients and advancing cancer nursing, her strong involvement in EONS as EONS President, EONS Past-President and chair of the EONS Advocacy Working group, and her important work in enhancing and endorsing multi-professionality and building bridges across all disciplines. The award was presented at EONS11-ESMO 2018 Congress, October 2018.
Lifetime Achievement Award 2017
Anita Margulies received the EONS Lifetime Achievement Award at ECCO 2017 for her huge contribution to EONS over many years and her outstanding work in the cancer nursing field.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2016
The EONS Board agreed that Carol Tischelman, Professor in Innovative Care, Karolinska University Hospital and Karolinska Insitutet, Stockholm, Sweden, should be the receiver of the LTA 2016 Award. The award is given to Carol to acknowledge her role as a key figure in cancer care and for her contribution and devotion to the development of cancer nursing practice in her own country and internationally.The award was presented to her during the EONS-10 Congress in Dublin, Ireland in October 2016
Lifetime Achievement Award 2015
The EONS Board during its May 2015 Board meeting agreed that Sam Smith, Head of Nursing and Support at Teenage Cancer Center Trust, London, UK should be the receiver of the LTA 2015 Award.
The award is given to Sam Smith to acknowledge her role as a key figure in teenage cancer care and for her contribution and devotion to the development of cancer nursing practice in her own country and internationally. Sam received the LTA Award from EONS President-Elect Daniel Kelly during the the ECC 2015 event.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2014
The EONS Board during its Board meeting on 14 May 2014 unanimously agreed that Paz Fernandez Ortega should receive the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Paz currently works at the Institut Catalá d’Oncologia ICO, Barcelona, Spain, as Nursing Research Coordinator and is an Associate professor at Barcelona University. She has been an EONS Board Member during the period of 1999-2006 and has worked in Oncology since 1985.
The award was presented to Paz by EONS President Erik van Muilekom who praised her dedication to oncology nursing practice. The award presentation took place during the EONS-9 Congress in Istanbul, Turkey.
Lifetime Achievement Award 2013
Shelley Dolan was the deserving winner of the 2013 EONS Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr Dolan has been working in the field of oncology nursing for over two decades, inspiring and leading other nurses to strive for better care.

Career highlights include developing the largest critical care unit in the UK, developing the first clinical leadership course for cancer nurses in South Africa and winning an award from the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
The award was presented to her by EONS Board Member Mary Wells, who praised her dedication to oncology nursing practice. The award presentation took place during the European Cancer Congress 2013 in Amsterdam.
Dr Dolan is currently Chief Nurse at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. She has been a Board Member of EONS and has contributed to several EONS education initiatives.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2012
The Board unanimously agreed that Professor Nurgün Platin, Professor of Nursing at the Hacettepe University School of Nursing, Ankara, Turkey, should receive the Lifetime Achievement Award 2012. The award is given for her role as a leader and pioneer in oncology nursing in Turkey and for her contribution and devotion to the development of cancer nursing practice in her own country and internationally. She received the Award at the EONS General meeting on Friday 27 April, during the EONS-8 Spring Convention, Geneva, Switzerland.

Lifetime Achievement Award 2011
Professor Yvonne Wengström, Division of Nursing, Department of Neurobiology, Care Science and Society, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden received the Lifetime Achievement Award 2011 from EONS President Sultan Kav at the EONS Opening Award session on Saturday 24 September 2011 during the 2011 European Multidisciplinary Cancer Congress, Stockholm, Sweden.
