Germany proposes new e-health law

Germany is proposing a new law on electronic health data. Federal Health Minister Hermann Gröhe argued that the benefit for patients of a joined-up system could be huge - for example, if someone is involved in an accident, medical staff will be able to discover existing health conditions and medications taken by checking their electronic health card. However, there are concerns over the security of highly personal health data if it becomes part of a nationally accessible electronic system.
