ECCO founder passes away

Professor Umberto Veronesi, founder of the European CanCer Organisation (ECCO) passed away on 8 November aged 90. Professor Veronesi played a crucial role in setting up the Federation of European Cancer Societies, the organisation which later became ECCO. He was a leading surgeon who developed new surgical techniques and also served as Italy’s health minister. His commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration among cancer professionals will live on in the work of ECCO.
