

We are delighted to announce the recipients of the EONS Awards 2025, presented during EONS18 at the ESMO Congress in Berlin. These annual awards recognise individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to cancer nursing through leadership, advocacy and research.
The Lifetime Achievement Award 2025 has been presented to Professor Annie Young in recognition of her outstanding personal and professional contribution to the field of cancer nursing. Her lifelong dedication to improving outcomes for cancer patients, advancing nursing research, and strengthening multi-professional collaboration has made a remarkable and lasting impact on the profession.
The RECaN – Recognising Cancer Nursing Award 2025 has been awarded to Ani Khmaladze, President of the Georgian Oncology Nursing Society, for her strong commitment to elevating the profile of cancer nursing nationally and across Europe. Ani has been an influential advocate for the visibility, development and recognition of cancer nurses and continues to serve as an inspirational role model for the profession.
The Novice Research Dissemination Award 2025 has been presented to Camille Simone Piquette for her abstract entitled “Disease Perceptions of Adult Patients with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) During Diagnosis.” This award supports early-career nurses presenting research at an international conference for the first time, and highlights the importance of nurturing the next generation of nurse researchers.
The EONS Best Poster Award 2025 has been awarded to Mevlüde Ergen from the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf for the poster entitled “The effects of nursing interventions based on Orem’s Self-Care Deficit Theory on symptom management, care needs and quality of life in cancer patients receiving immunotherapy.” This award recognises the scientific quality, clarity and structure of the poster, as well as its contribution to evidence-based nursing practice.
The ECND Competition Award 2025 has been presented to Sarma Sandrine, on behalf of the AFIC – Association Française des Infirmier(e)s en Cancérologie, for the video “Cancer Nursing Beyond Borders.” The award acknowledges excellence in creative communication and the powerful promotion of cancer nursing across countries and cultures.
The EONS Board warmly congratulates all three awardees and thanks them for their commitment to advancing cancer nursing, improving patient care, and strengthening the voice of the profession across Europe.
