EONS March Newsletter is out!

The March edition of the EONS Newsletter is now live, packed with key updates and opportunities for the cancer nursing community across Europe.

Voting is now open for the EONS Board Elections 2025, with full members invited to elect new representatives for the roles of Board Member – Education and Board Member – Research. Voting runs until 21 April at 12:00 CET, and the results will be announced in June.

We’re also excited to launch this year’s European Cancer Nursing Day (ECND25) campaign under the theme “Cancer Nursing Beyond Borders.” Join us on 18 May to celebrate cancer nurses’ contributions across Europe and beyond. Download the ECND25 toolkit from our website and don’t miss the chance to enter our competition to win free registration to EONS18 in Berlin this October.

EONS recently participated in the 2025 Safer Cancer Care Conference in Brussels, where President Elect Helena Ullgren and Board Member Matthias Hellberg-Naegele presented valuable insights into occupational safety and nurse-led best practices.

The 9th EONS Research Proposal Writing Workshop will take place in Lisbon from 7–9 July 2025, providing selected participants with a chance to strengthen their research skills in a supportive environment. Applications are now closed, and we look forward to welcoming the successful candidates.

Abstract submission for EONS18 at ESMO Congress 2025 is still open! The event, under the theme “Compassionate Care in Cancer Nursing,” will be held from 18–20 October in Berlin. Submit your abstract by 13 May to be part of this major congress. Registrations are also open.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and in our latest blog, EONS Communication Working Group member Bilal Awad highlights the important role of cancer nurses in promoting prevention, early detection, and patient support.

For early career nurses, the EONS podcast series hosted by Irati Rodriguez Matesanz offers practical and inspiring guidance, with new episodes on survivorship and professional pathways in cancer nursing.

Looking ahead, EONS will be represented at several major international events, including ICCN 2025 in Australia, ICML in Switzerland (featuring a dedicated Oncology Nursing Session), the EHMA Conference in France, and MASCC/ISOO in the USA. Full details are available in the newsletter.

Finally, a reminder that EONS membership is open year-round! Join us to access learning, networking, and the chance to shape cancer nursing in Europe. This issue also features a free article from the European Journal of Oncology Nursing and a spotlight on healthy lifestyles for cancer prevention.
