Purpose: This event is specifically designed for oncology nurses with an interest in and aptitude for research, who would like to develop their confidence and skills in writing a research proposal to address a contemporary clinical issue in cancer care.
Content: The workshop will provide a supportive and constructive learning environment, in which you will progress your ideas into a research proposal. To achieve this, we have put together a comprehensive program of interactive taught sessions, participant presentations, small group work, and structured feedback discussions.
Requirements for the applicants:
To be eligible for participation, applicants must be:
- A registered nurse with at least one year of clinical experience in cancer care;
- Qualified up to master level (MSc);
- An individual member of EONS or a member of EONS through a National Society;
- Able to write and speak in English.
10 places are available
Note: Applicants who have participated in the EONS Research Workshops or EONS Master class before will not be eligible.
What does it fund?
- Registration fee;
- Accommodation;
- Lunches during the workshop;
- One evening dinner.
What does it not fund?
- Successful applicants will be asked to pay their travel expenses;
- Personnel expenses;
- Meals or lunches out the workshop.
Submission format and content
The following information is required and should be provided in the application form:
1. Application form online
a. Principal applicant information (contact details, professional activity)
b. Outline of research problem relevant to cancer nursing (more details in application form)
c. Identify a mentor to support progression of research proposal
2. A letter of support from applicant’s employer.
3. 2 Pages CV of the applicant
Criteria of evaluation
Applications will be evaluated by the research committee, on the following criteria:
- Formal eligibility of the applicant;
- Benefit of this workshop to the applicant’s clinical or academic career in cancer nursing;
- Potential relevance of the research project to impact an aspect of clinical cancer nursing.
Reporting schedule
- Applicants are required to submit a short report within 2 months of attending workshop.
